Scanning
It's been a while since I posted, so I thought I'd come on and do an update on the basement.
Work's been good & I've got a nice amount of photos to scan -thanks! Just finishing off another "thousand photo order" and I'm finishing doing the video conversions for the same customer.
Overall, it's been a good month or so and I'm looking forward to hearing the pleased reactions of another happy customer soon!

Hi Guys,
Finally got it working. This blogging lark is harder than it seems. Not only that but I'm currently in my sweatshop of an office/loft at height of the British summer. OK, so the British summer isn't that hot, but seriously, it is way to hot to be healthy.
Anyway, what should I be saying... as some of you readers may or may not know I recently completed my final year of high school and came to the revolutionary discovery that I needed a job. Then I remembered the new big story on the news about the credit crunch (my mate thought it was a tasty new breakfast cereal), and how it was causing mass job losses, etc; therefore there were virtually no jobs around. My dad, (the head of marketing, PR, accounts, delivery, aka everything bar the scanning at Joe's Basement), had the brainwave of what is now known as “Joe's Basement”. The rest, I’ve been told, is history (if seven months counts as history).
So what is Joe’s Basement? Well, in a nutshell, I turn all those old images tucked away inside shoeboxes into digital images that can be viewed on your computer, at very good prices. That’s the bulk of it. But, Joe’s Basement is now moving into video and audio. This is done to a very professional standard (if I may say so) and therefore can be played on a DVD or CD player as well as a computer. At the moment I can offer VHS, Hi-8, Mini-DV or Audio Cassette, but I’m hoping to move into doing cine-film when the finance is there. Slides and negatives are currently being prepared.
If you’re wondering why you might need to consider using my service, perhaps I can offer some suggestions: All analogue forms of storage (i.e. – all of the storage devices I mention above) deteriorate over time. This means that all those precious memories are constantly losing quality and sharpness. Also, by having your memories saved on your computer hard drive, or even better, an offsite storage system, then they’ll be safe from fire or flood (not to mention alien invasion). Finally, in today’s digital age, wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to have that image or video of your family holiday in 1999 easily accessible on your laptop? One client, after receiving his new DVD holding the video footage of his eldest child’s first birthday said that “it’s remarkable, all of my children love it, they’ve watched it four or five times this past week alone!” This particular client had a 1000 images converted to digital for his wife’s birthday as a present. This client has been fantastic and has helped me through my first tentative steps into the business world enormously.
Joe’s Basement is currently 7 months old and I’m really thankful for the support from all of our customers, both potential and especially the actual. If you’re interested in preserving your memories from the unscrupulous touch of time please feel free to contact me using any of the methods below (obviously with the phone numbers, I’d prefer it if it was still daylight when you called!)
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope that this has inspired you to pull out your full shoeboxes of old memories, and bring them into the modern day.
Hmm, that was more of a business letter than I intended, but hey, it says what needed to be said. Seriously though, please consider Joe’s Basement as an investment into your memories. I plan to use this blog to keep everyone posted on how thing’s are going in the Basement!
